5 Replies to URGENT CARE Near Me in Waterloo IA

  1. I had an infection in my hand on a weekend that needed more immediate attention than waiting for an appointment with my primary care doctor. I had excellent care from both the nurse and the NP that day. The front desk was nice too. I made my appointment Sunday night, for an early morning slot. I went a bit early and was told to wait until my scheduled time. Okay by me. If it’s an emergency, you should be going to emergency rooms. Urgent cares are not emergency rooms. They ‘prefer’ appointments. Some urgent cares say walk-ins on their sign, not all do. Choose accordingly. So many comments indicate people see the word Urgent and expect an urgent, immediate response, similar to emergency rooms. Maybe urgent cares should be called “not quite an emergency care”. There are other urgent cares in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. Check wait times googling ‘urgent cares near me’. Pick accordingly.

  2. Made an appointment showed up 15 mins early.. hour and 25 minutes after my kids are telling me they are hungry and my baby is crying did I ask how much longer it would be. Nurses do not have any empathy or manners and told me they don’t know it would depend on what others were here for some are getting xrays. Mind you, this was a walk in and I made my 415pm appointment at 9am. I will not be back to this location ever.

  3. They open at 8am and I showed up with my two kiddos at 820am and they wouldn’t see us because they “already seen their two walk in patients for the hour” she told me I should have scheduled an appointment. I thought this was a walk in clinic? No one else was sitting in the lobby either. I don’t get it.

  4. Best urgent care experience I have had.

Very clean, outstanding service at the front desk, the NP was so kind and fast as well. I even got a follow up call 2 days later confirming my child was feeling better. Highly recommend! Thank you for your care!

  5. My grandson who is 3 years old was taken here with a severe cough and runny nose and was told to take zyrtec and the cough could last up to 6 weeks. The next day took him to his regular doctor and he had bronchitis and a bacterial infection. They did not take the time to look at him at all.

If you get Kelly J Schmidt you’d have better luck talking to a wall.

He is incompetent! I’ve worked in healthcare for years can’t believe he still has a job after suggesting my three month old is depressed. He’s lucky that there was nothing severely wrong with my daughter. I hope UnityPoint can reconsider and reevaluate the provider they have in their office as I seen multiple complaints about this provider. He is a walking liability!

I’d love to know where this man got his degree. Him suggesting something that is so out of his scope of practice. Waiting to get reimbursed for my visit as I should be.

Nothing was resolved. I got treated like an animal and was belittled as a first time mom like we aren’t already under a lot of pressure. By the way, what was wrong with her?! She has reflux and her medication needed to be adjusted by weight. Also, if your baby is only eating 10 ounces within 24 hours a provider you should take that extremely seriously!

I would’ve respected him a lot more if he was just Frank with me. But you know providers, they could never admit that they don’t know.

No passion, no respect. He could care less about the people in this community. Might be time to hang the coat up.

I was extremely disappointed when going to this office today. I have been here before when I had Covid. The doctor said that he didn’t think I had covid or strep throat and I told him to test anyways and they both came back positive. Tonight after waiting almost an hour after I was told the doctor would be in soon, I asked the nurse when the doctor would be in. She was very rude and had a snotty tone and said “We have more urgent people to see.” I have never been talked to by a healthcare professional like this ever in my life. It is my opinion that if you can’t show compassion and empathy with your patients, maybe you should find a different field to be in. I won’t be coming to this urgent care again.

You’ll have better luck going to your kids elementary school nurse. This place is an absolute joke. Came in super sick, and the lady at the front desk just looked disgusted and snottily told me to wear a mask if I wanted to schedule an appt (which Whatever I’ll wear a mask I just need help). She told me there’s over an hour wait and I should go somewhere else. I asked for an appt anyways because I physically couldn’t drive any further. Being a receptionist must have gotten to her mind. But this place is just terrible you’ll be waiting hours if you don’t make an appt. Which I thought the point of urgent care was for URGENT appts that are walk in. Disgusting. Ridiculous. Quite laughable.

My husband was having an allergic reaction and we came here because it’s only a few minutes from home (he’s never had a reaction before and it didn’t seem serious). His condition got bad very quickly – covered in hives, eyes swelling shut, very nauseous- by the time we arrived. It was not busy – one person waiting. Receptionist took her time getting our info and then seated him in a chair in the waiting room. When he started to lose his vision after a while and I told her this, she proceeded to make an unrelated phone call, then took her time going back to find him a room.

The nurse took his blood pressure and it was extremely low. Still, zero sense of urgency from anyone. The doctor, Kelly Schmidt, finally came in to see him. He started questioning my husband who was clearly in terrible shape – lips blue, face swollen, covered in hives, deteriorating vision- then lectured him about protein powder when he learned that was the last thing my husband had. After several more minutes of leisurely typing things into the computer I begged him to please get an epi pen for my husband. He got very defensive and almost seemed to intentionally take even longer.

After a minimum of 20 minutes from our arrival, they finally administered meds to my husband to get him stabilized until an ambulance arrived. It was an unbelievable experience. Yes, we should have gone to the emergency room but we had no idea how serious it would become until we had already arrived. Also, how difficult is it for a medical facility to give someone an epi pen when they are clearly going into anaphylactic shock, THEN worry about lecturing them?

Stay away from this urgent care as they lack all critical thinking skills and any sense of urgency if a situation becomes serious. The doctor was probably the worst I’ve ever seen.

When I can actually get in, everyone here is wonderful. But a “walk-in” clinic that doesn’t take “walk-ins” has ceased to serve its purpose for our family. They should have built it twice as big to meet the demand of this area.

I truly value and appreciate the respect and professionalism shown by the staff at PCC. I have never had a doctor show more interest and genuine concern or give the time, attention or consideration for me, as a patient. I would highly recommend PCC -Waterloo to anyone.

Tiara the receptionist in scheduling, on the 2nd floor; she is amazing. She cares about people and makes a connection with them. What a nice person she is!

Today was my worst experience ever. An ancient female pediatrician spent 30 minutes trying to convince me to give my child more than one shot at a time. I was there for 1 shot and I was kept over an hour with bantering because “she’s a doctor” so that means I don’t know anything and should have no say. Then YESTERDAY a receptionist told me that they were not allowed to Rx a med and would not let me speak to the nurses as requested. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. There is no complaint form on the website, so here is where I shall air my displeasure! Other than that, Heidi B is very nice, and they take poor man’s insurance. So good on those accounts. Just really sad the past two days have had to go like this. Receptionists do not get to make medical decisions without letting patients speak to a nurse or doctor, AND, if I say my son is only getting 1 shot at a time, I’m not there to argue!!!!

I would give 10 stars if I could. I have never experienced a medical clinic that has treated me with such respect and kindness, especially last minute before close. I’m so thankful for this place and their passionate staff!
