Adorable place with lots of yummy treats! We had the lemon bar and ginger snap lemon cookies which were both delish! There’s nice indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your food. Recently we had the pleasure of working with Mariah and Zack to plan and cater a dessert bar for our wedding.
Mariah hosted us for a lovely tasting with TONS of options. We enjoyed trying our our flavor combinations and building a menu with their guidance and expertise.
The day of, they truly went above and beyond, delivering and setting-up an incredible dessert bar. It was visually stunning and SO, SO delicious. We couldn’t possibly have asked for a better experience or a better selection of amazing items for our guests.

Their cookie/cake section is my favorite. It’s absolutely phenomenal. The frosting is super rich and creamy, it goes along with the light and fluffy cookie base perfectly and make your mouth water. They have amazing decorating skills too, you’d think they were gourmet specialty cookies. The way the frosting layers with each other is so delicate and elegant, it melts in your mouth. I also really like their crunchy and cheesy pizza along with their massive selection of pastries and donuts.By Nickolas Vet (a year ago)We were so excited to find a real bakery during our stay in Bangor! Frank’s came highly recommended by the locals. We were looking for a good blueberry pie, and we found one! 🫐 We also found *several* other treats to bring back to our hotel, like the raspberry crumble bar and hermit bars. Yum.By Jennifer Corley (2 months ago)Heard a friend say this was a good place to eat. Oh, my word!!! Cheese cakes and coffee were the best dessert combination that my wife and I can remember having while out. Gosh, the food, the shop itself, the staff…everything was so nice! Thanks to the friend for the idea. We’ll make this a routine stop!By K.C. Kinney (a month ago)Great white on white. They do not make tiramisu. Don’t let them fool you. italians would hate thisBy Isabella McNutt (a month ago)We recently moved to the area and we are so glad a colleague recommended Frank’s Bake Shop! Thank you for reading! If you have any additional information on the best Homemade Bread in Maine, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you!
You need to get here first thing in the morning as the line grows very quickly! The bread and pastries here are super super SUPER tasty and fluffy as they make them all from scratch! We tried the peach tart and my gosh I needed another one right away! They have so so so ma y to choose from and they all look amazing! I love the atmosphere as it felt so cozy and homey.
I can’t seem to stay away from this place. Just look at the Chunky Chocolate Rye, it really does taste as chocolate as it looks. The blueberry scone is a wonder, it’s moist and dense, with flavor that is the definition of scone. You won’t want any other scone after this one. The Galette and morning buns are so good. It’s all amazing.
Received some recommendations from others to make sure we stopped here during our stay in Portland. We chose the chocolate croissant and some sort of sweet muffin (can’t remember the exact name, but photos are attached to this review). The food was wonderful. We’ll definitely be going back next time we’re in Portland.
Standard Baking Co is a must visit in Portland if you appreciate top notch bakeries! The bread and pastries are delicious however I’m not sure it’s stand-line-for-an-hour delicious which is what you should expect if you go at peak hours. I went when everyone else and their cousin’s mother decided to go on a Saturday morning around 9am and the line stretched all the way through the parking lot. Do yourself a favor and order ahead online for pickup. I got the croissant, levain sourdough bread and a plum tart, all were excellent. Takeout only.
It’s been called the best bakery in Maine and i believe they might be right. The morning bun is famous and rightly so. The almond croissant was amazing. The marzipan filling was perfect, especially if you like it thick. It had 1″ of filling, and surprisingly it wasn’t too sweet, as it can often be. It had a dense layer of thin sliced almonds on top that were just crunchy enough. I was lucky to be there early so it was a tiny bit warm.
