I got a call from Aspirus billing today notifying me that they were merging my deceased husband’s account with mine and I am now responsible to pay it. It has been 34 days since he passed and none of the 3 people that I spoke with offered any sympathy or condolences for my loss. I just found this to be very cold. I understand policy but could they offer just a little compassion. Isn’t “compassion” even part of their slogan?By Michelle Pranke (a week ago)We all know the quality of healthcare has run off the edge of the cliff, yet Aspirus Hospital found a way to one up the whole system. Where to start, feels like you are in a factory. Each person has one specialty and won’t navigate out of their box. The hospitalist lacks basic ability to take what the patient is telling them and apply that to the treatment plan. They also can’t plan out 2 steps ahead. Instead, they take the symptoms and put them in a computer program that tells them the treatment plan. Even when said treatment plan does more harm than good. They are slaves to the administrative system that dictates every step for them. Same symptoms 3 times landed me with ER visits. Difference is the first 2 had a symptomatic Covid results, given steroids for a day and sent home. Third time was a charm, no covid and oh we need to admit you.
Facility was dirty. 2 to 3 hours for food and we are talking pre-packaged muffins. Nurses coming in smelling like the perfume counter at Macy’s. Staff sitting at computers looking for places to live or things to do, no wonder it takes an hour to get a tums.
Nurses withholding medications but marking you down as having it. Like wow they are bold. One nurse could swear was a meth addict, seen unmedicated kids with ADHD more functional them this nurse. You get new staff every 12 hours even though the same staff is working the same area, so you have to explain to each new person every 12 hours for why you are here and this and that. They get the small stuff all wrong and whole process seems like a money-making scheme. Makes you wonder how bad they mess up the big things.
By Bradley Meadows (5 months ago)I spent over 5 hours to be seen by a doctor. If I made the decision to go to an emergency was because I wasn’t feeling well. I was told I could leave on my own will but if I had left my insurance would still pay for my visit.By Bella Willard (4 months ago)Rude and inconsiderate staff. They do not do a good job being advocates for their patients whatsoever and patient care is almost non-existent, especially for the nurses in the med surg ICU (especially Wendy) and the doctors (especially Dr. Patel). As a nurse myself, seeing how the hospital staff treated my family members, how they were dismissive, disrespectful, how the staff talks down to you, avoids interaction, has no care to provide any updates or information on a patient’s status to family members, they clearly also had no care in the world to obtain information on their own patients to help do their jobs and provide the cares that the patient needs, they don’t even know their patient’s baseline when they have been a patient in that same unit for days, how the doctor doesn’t feel the need to explain any situation unless you’re a medical professional or have a medical background because it’s a waste of their time (which clearly shows how bad of a doctor you are if you can’t break down an explanation to individuals on a level they fully understand) was very disgusting and definitely a shock to see how terrible some hospital cares could be.It’s disappointing how multiple family members have been patients or have seeked cares at Aspirus for 20 plus years and now it’s very questionable if they should maintain their cares at this facility. Especially since there is also no cultural consideration at this hospital.
It definitely is not a hospital I’d want to work at, obtain cares from or feel safe sending my family members unless I want them neglected and to be disrespected during their visit. It’s very frightening how some hospital staff really just don’t care to do their jobs. Now I know why we hear the things we hear about Aspirus.
By Pashoua Yang (3 months ago)If I could give negative stars I would. Went to ER for food related allergic reaction. Check in desk gave me so much attitude because I was struggling to talk and give her my information (my throat was swelling!). Had my vitals taken about 15 min after arrival, went to go sit in waiting room for another 30 min. Decided to leave – figured if the DR’s don’t think having an allergic reaction is serious, then I shouldn’t worry. Took two days to breathe normally after incident. Only went to Aspirus because it was way closer than going to ER at Marshfield Clinic in Weston.Don’t even waste your time coming here, make the extra drive elsewhere if you can – Marshfield Clinic ER is 1000% better and quicker to service emergencies. Some ladies in the waiting room were saying how they were in there 4-5 hours already.

That’s it for our list of the best urgent care clinics in Wausau WI! If you have any arguments or additional information, please leave a comment. We love to hear from our readers too!
My fiancé was denied care at Urgent care for an infection in his face due to health insurance HMO, they didn’t even attempt to accommodate or give us other options. 10/10 would not recommend. Find somewhere else that will actually be helpful. I’d give zero stars if it was an option.
Made an appointment to see doctor 7 months it took to get me in. Yesterday I got sick so need to cancel appointment. The switchboard lady was rude and cranky, and I sat on hold 15 + minutes, I’m sorry I’m sick I’m not sitting on hold over 15 minutes to cancel an appointment.
I love my Marshfield doctor’s! They always listen and always do what they can to help!
There is a severe communication gap between doctor and pharmacy when it comes to ordering and actually getting the meds you NEED in a timely manor.
Read if you are trying to decide to go here!!! Marshfield is Outstanding compared to aspirus. I Struggled with Drs for almost 2 years at aspirus and finally switched to experts from Marshfield, oh I wish I had started with Marshfield, they are efficient, knowledgeable, nice, compassionate, and have generated plans and diagnosis for conditions that have been a mystery to over 2 dozen other Drs. Each visit has not been a waste of time, and my life is finally improving.
