  1. Extremely understaffed. The 2 star rating is not a reflection of the level of care I received, it is the timeliness of care. I arrived on a Sunday as a walk-in, when they opened at 10:00am. There were about 10 people ahead of me. I explained my symptoms and my name was taken. It took 1.5 hours before I was able to start the check in process (11:30am). After checking in, I was taken to a room 2 hours after checking in (1:30pm). I left the facility with my prescription sent to my pharmacy at 2pm. I think two hours max is a reasonable expectation for a walk-in. The care provided by the workers was good, the four hour service was unacceptable.

  2. I needed to be seen for urgent care late in the afternoon. The other urgent care in town was at capacity and sent me to Med First. They accepted me as a walk in. I had to wait about two hours but understood and was very grateful to be seen due to my emergency. The care I recieved was remarkable. Brittany at the front desk had a lot of patients to check in and help and remained so pleasant with everyone. The nursing assistant was a great listener and captured everything I said. She was kind and compassionate. Jennifer treated me. She also was a great listener and covered all the medical bases and sought my agreement with her medical options. Great customer service and team. If you need to use urgent care please leave your frustration for needing to wait in your vehicle and be grateful to be seen. You will get great care when it’s your turn to be seen. Definitely much better alternative than ER! Great job Med First team!

  3. I am new patient ..I was hurt on my job the night before and walked in and signed in and others were ahead of me not much of a wait time. I completed paperwork electronically on my iPhone and after completion they accepted my health insurance. All important information was added to paperwork. I was called to the back to get seen and treated. I was given a medical treatment and on my out. The service was great and I was taken care of quickly and professionally. I was very happy with services here and I did get relief from my injury through my treatment was given and provided here . Thank you

  4. Had an appointment for a sick visit. Had a COVID test done to be sure first and was told to sit in my car and wait 20 minutes for the results. Waited an hour and a half before going in to ask for an update. Was told they would be with me shortly. Over 2 hours later (from time test was taken) the provider called and gave me the results by phone.
The provider was very nice, but they are very unorganized and they need to do better with communicating with patients as I could have just went home and waited for the call instead of waiting to see the provider which is what I had expected when scheduling the appointment.

  5. My teenage daughter had her first experience with getting labs and Trina was absolutely amazing!!! My daughter was very nervous and had never had labs before.
Trina did not miss a beat. She was able to access her vein quickly and with certainty. Thank you Trina and Med First for an awesome experience!!!

Dr. Marcus Hodges was GREAT! I’ve seen him once before and he gave me wonderful care both times! The appointment was quick but I didn’t feel rushed in and out. In a waiting room full of people, I was here in office for maybe an hour total-and that included all the check in! I was so surprised how quickly they were getting patients back. The staff is so kind and the lady on the phone before hand was so so helpful. They did so much better than my pcp. Thank you CCHC!!

While visiting my daughter in Florida for the holidays, I took a tumble and injured my foot. I waited until returning home to seek medical attention…not smart. I made an appointment on Friday (6th) with CCHC Urgent Care (Medical Park Location). It was the last appointment of the day. Later the staff alerted me that they were running behind, and my appointment would be 30 minutes later than the original scheduled time. When I arrived, several folks were still waiting to be seen. The check-in lady was very pleasant and informed me that it could be a little while before I was seen. The wait time was long… however, at this time in the world, I felt that a little grace was needed. In the end, it was discovered that my foot was badly broken in multiple places. All of the ladies that helped me last night were so kind and simply amazing. Thank You All!

I would normally give a lesser rating due to the amount of time our overall appointment took in this office BUT the care we received from Sandra Morehouse FNP-C was EXCELLENT. She was extremely thorough, took as much time as we needed, fully explained everything in detail, went above and beyond the norm to ensure our needs were taken care of and made sure a few times that we didn’t have any remaining questions or concerns. I hope she moves into primary care because she was an excellent provider to see!

On 9/15/22, I made an appointment with urgent care through the patient portal. I may have waited 10 minutes before I was called back. All the nurses I came in contact with were exceptional. I was seen by FNP Gross who is so personable and thorough. I on my was in no time. I thank everyone for being so kind because I sure wasn’t feeling well.

Outstanding medical facility. Very caring compassionate and thorough. If you come to Urgent care make sure you have patience and know if this is not your network of Dr.’s they will refuse care. You cannot blame them for this! Don’t be ugly to the staff because you have chose the wrong group of physicians. Two ppl were very ugly to the staff because they were patience of Carolinaeast. My husband received excellent care. Thank you!

I had the worst experience at that hospital. I have been feeling pain in my abdomen, right shoulder, chest when I take deep breaths. I will never return. I have been in pain and the nurses did nothing except prolong! My boyfriend and I arrived at the hospital at 1pm. My vitals took thirty minutes to an hour. After, I was put into a room. In the front, they moved me to a couple of rooms. The lady nurse had to keep poking my arms until she found a vein, they can be hard to find. I was in the room to get a cat scan and the fluids in my arm busted so I had to go all the way back to the other side and have an IV put back in my arm. I was poked at least six times and I was emotional stating “if you aren’t going to properly take my blood, please don’t touch me. The cat scan machine never worked, I had to have an ultrasound done, chest x-ray done. Apparently the results came back negative. I was told that the results for a blood clot came back positive, that doesn’t mean it was true and that it would have taken another eight hours. We left at 2am. I ended up leaving. I am traumatized and it was the worst experience that I have ever had and I will not be returning there. Nothing was accomplished, I will be going to the primary doctors office to figure out what’s going on this coming week. This hospital will be the last place to come to. While patients aren’t feeling well, nurses are laughing, joking, standing around eating. How would they feel if the tables turned?

My grandfather had a Quadruple bypass surgery. His doctor, Dr. Che, and her surgical team were fantastic! Before moving forward with the surgery Dr. Chen made sure to complete all necessary testing to make sure that there were no surprises to arise during the surgery. Her extra precautions made our family feel very confident with the care her and her team were giving my grandfather. My entire family and myself cannot thank Dr. Chen, her surgical team, all the nurses that cared for him, and the entire staff at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern enough. They are definitely a 5star hospital and in our opinion Dr. Chen is one of the best Cardiac Surgery Specialist!

My mom went to the ED for a bad fall and possible stroke. The staff in the ED were kind and helpful. She was admitted and the staff up on floor have been great. We really appreciated that the LISTENED to us about her history. She has received good care since she has been there.
It did take a very long time to get her from the ED up to a bed. It would be great if that process could speed up a little bit more but I know there is a lot that goes on that we aren’t aware of.
Thank you to all of those who have served my mom so well.

2 1/2 stars. Most of the staff were great. I had one nurse who was very good, caring and even checked on me when is was in a different area on her break. One nurse I just did not care for at all. My huge problem was having to wait in the ER for 14 hours to get into a room. I have been in hospitals in Va. BEACH, Va. and never in my 71 yrs have I ever had to wait for 14 hrs to get a room. This is ridiculous. Now it’s my husband’s turn. He is a cancer patient and very weak. There is no way in this world anyone should have to sit in the ER for 14 hours before going to a room…especially a very weak cancer patient. There is no answer good enough..

I can’t speak for the rest of the hospital, but their Women’s Center and L&D department was fantastic. My family and I were well taken care. There were complications, but the nurses were amazing as well as the doctors. I believe we were there a total of 4 or 5 days, and the nurses were as sweet as could be. Our doctors walked us through what was going on, what our next steps were, etc. My concerns were never dismissed, I never felt uncomfortable or ignored and I am truly thankful that everything happened the way it did.

I’ve also had no problem getting my records transferred and information shared with my new doctors. I heard not-so-great things prior to my experience, but wanted to share this in case it helps others.
