I’m quite sad to have to write this review as 3 stars; I wholeheartedly believed this would be a 5 star review.
The atmosphere inside was perfect. It was warm, smelled wonderful, and the decorations were just right.
The cashier who helped me was very kind and knowledgeable. I was SO EXCITED to find out this is a peanut free bakery! I ordered one of each of the macarons. They were each just okay but not something I would get again. The ginger one was way too heavy on the ginger and I actually had to spit it out.I also got 3 cheesecakes: red velvet, chocolate stout, and tiramisu.
My husband and I each had one bite of each of them and that’s it.
I got a lemon cheese pie and it was not good at all. I expected to be blown away by at least one thing we got but we didn’t finish a single thing.I will give them another chance to try the savory side and croissants and will update this once I do.
By Marley Budreau (a year ago)Just stopped in while I was in town and it was amazing. Vegan and gluten free options. I got an everything croissant with cream cheese and it was super tasty. Great service and very welcoming when you walk in!By Stephanie Hodges (6 months ago)This is one of my sister’s favorite places for breakfast/brunch and I can see why! I got the bacon gorgonzala quiche, which was the fluffiest, most buttery quiche I’ve ever had. Amazing! I also grabbed an oatmeal cream pie that was out of this world! The frosting in the middle was decadent! My sister loves the cardamom and orange monkey bread, but was disappointed that it was missing ingredients and tasted super bland this time. She raved about the veggie quiche and her son’s blackberry cheesecake was irresistible! I can’t wait to go back! I just hope the monkey bread is better next time!By Becky W (6 months ago)When we visitied Purdue, this was the perfect spot to enjoy a treat after our tour. What an amazing place for everyone – including 2 of us needing gluten free. We ordered so many things and enjoyed them the next few days! I am love everything about the products, the selection, the location and the business plan. So happy to be a customer and recommend it to everyone!By Jessica Barker (a month ago)Stopped by for an after lunch dessert and coffee with a freind who has not spent much time in Lafayette. The macaroons we shared was great. I also had a slice of the bourbon banana bread cake. It was also very good. Needless to say I am going to make this a more regular stop on my way to Purdue in the morning.By Les Eller (2 months ago)

My wife has been ordering baked goods from this family for a while now. Everything has been really good and you can tell it is good for you. The bagels are great and the cinnamon swirl bread is eaten almost every morning at our home. You can tell they care about quality and their customers. Highly recommend!By Nate K. (a year ago)SO thankful someone recommended bread of heaven!! We absolutely LOVE their products. So so so delicious and fresh. We are super particular with what we buy and we’re so thankful that they use organic ingredients, natural ferment (sourdough) and they offer lots of sprouted options too! The best of all the worlds when it comes to wheat products and so yum! And the variety!! Bagels, bread, cinnamon buns, tortillas, cakes, muffins, noodles……!!!
Thank you bread of heaven team for all you do to keep these amazing products coming to our homes!!By Michelle Ans (2 months ago)I love this bakery so much… I just wish they were closer to me!! I order often and have learned that faster shipping is ideal but even without, the products are all so fresh when shipped they still taste great. We’ve tried almost everything they offer! We are a food allergy family and appreciate that they are dedicated peanut free. Customer service is excellent. Our favorites include, chocolate chip cake, pretzel rolls, stoneground whole wheat sandwich bread, all pies, and sourdough noodles!!By Stacey Yarrish (a year ago)We are on our 2nd order! Such a cute little restaurant. I wish we would have had more time to try a few other items but we are already planning a trip back.
The curry chicken soup was delicious!
The ham and Swiss with the apricot jam was the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
The Cafe Bar was one of the best things I’ve had in a while, so many flavors and textures coming together perfectly.
I was disappointed in the kids meal half a grilled cheese is not enough for a 6 year old.
I was also disappointed in the service, while there are many people working it seemed like no one knew what they were doing. We were sat by one person, who also brought out our drinks. Then we sat and sat until another server came over and asked us if we were finished, we hadn’t even ordered yet.
Overall an adorable place with delicious food and we will be back!
Every time I have a chance to enjoy a meal at The Bread Basket I do. This time we celebrated my sisters Birthday. The service was fabulous and the food was a Tastebud Delight ! Ask for Greta and Shannon, the entire Team made our meal a joy! Thanks for a memorable experience! I brought home a Strawberry Rhubarb pie, life is Sweet!
Love a solid breakfast and was excited to try a new place. Super cute place with a homey, B&B feel.
Staff was polite and helpful. The higher price would be worth it if the execution was there.
Their homemade bread is amazing. You can taste the freshness in it. The eggs were also exceptional, despite not being cooked to order.
The potatoes were soggy and lukewarm, and a small portion as well.
The most disappointing part of the meal was the bacon. It was almost $5 extra for a side of bacon and it was limp and cold. It was good quality bacon, just not reheated prior to serving.
Wait staff didn’t make it around for a drink refill until our meals were finished.
Had high hopes based on the reviews. Maybe we caught them on an off day?
Would return to give another opportunity.
This is one of the best places to go for breakfast in Hendricks County. I’m sure they have a great lunch but I’m just always there at breakfast time. Today I had the homemade Belgian waffle with pecans and brown butter sauce. It was absolutely delicious. They make the batter in house and it’s completely different from what you’re used to. I love the individual teapots they serve when you order hot tea. The service is always top notch. We had a great little breakfast date and enjoyed it.
Do not hesitate! This is our FAVORITE place to eat. The food is fresh and so delicious, and great portions. They put so much care in the presentation as well as the taste. Staff are incredible, and the sweets and bread are to die for! 10/10 recommend!!
