  1. I’ve been waiting for my scheduled Minute Clinic appointment for an hour and thirty minutes now. There is nobody out in the waiting room ensuring that patients are being seen; just a kiosk and a doctor who occasionally pops her head out to let us know she is running a little behind. The woman in front of me has been here at least two hours. Just a heads up for folks who think they will be seen on time at this location; maybe try somewhere else. Also do not trust the order of patients on the screen above the kiosk. That is inaccurate as there is more than one department that sees patients here and depending on which department you are in (you will not receive this information when you schedule you appointment) you may be seen sooner or later than your scheduled time slot.

  2. Referred to in our home as “the bad place” because it’s where hopes and dreams go to die. The experience of going to this CVS is akin to one of the torture attempts on the show The Good Place. It would be a comically irritating experience if it wasn’t so maddening. Every employee I’ve encountered in the 3 years of going here has been unnecessarily rude or without any desire to get the transaction completed in anything faster than a glacial pace. To pay less my insurance requires I use a CVS to fill prescriptions and this one is a 3 minute drive away…. convenience makes us do crazy things.

  3. It’s true that it’s always really busy and you often have to wait in line for your prescription so I might switch To a different pharmacy soon. but all of the associates are very nice and all the reviews say they’re mean. I don’t think that’s fair. I haven’t experienced that. I’m kind to them and they are kind to me. It’s not their fault theyre understaffed so just be nice to them.

  4. My first time reviewing, largely in part to others personal bias and misnterpretation being so jaded and warped I felt it necessary to shed light on the reality. I have been to many pharmacies and this is far better then most and if there is not a drive through then people must go into the store increasing the time in line. It’s also in a very busy area, also tack on the sheer volume of prescriptions they are filling for people waiting increases wait time. I’ve literally verified online or via text every fill and have never had an issue, I’ve seen people walk into the pick up line not even knowing if the MDO had sent the Rx, just leaving the office minutes prior. Also people will hold up the the line by buying non pharmacy related items. People seem to be unaware that Insurance coverage can change and they are responsible for presenting the card in the right line for billing and will go to pick-up instead. In terms of attitude, we just and still are? going through a pandemic, while these people weathered that storm. Sadly most people are under the assumption that medications are ready in 5 minutes and “all you need to do is put a label on it” no I’m sorry it doesn’t work that way and maybe reviewing the plan, having your insurance card, payment ready, and knowing your medications might speed up the process as well.

  5. Terrible customer service. Everytime I’ve called, I’ve been patient and polite and have not received the same in return. The pharmacy staff is rude, unprofessional, and does not care about helping the customers. I have never had an interaction with someone in the medical field like I have when interacting with the pharmacy staff here. Do yourself a favor and choose any other CVS except this one. Bobby in particular; hope you are reprimanded one day for the way you speak to others.

** Note this is just from the pharmacy staff. Those that work the register in the general store are always pleasant everytime I’ve gone in. Get your pharmacy staff together because this is sad.

The location is convenient if you live in Shockoe Bottom or Church Hill, but the pharmacy pickup hours aren’t the greatest. Prescription pickup lines are often long/slow moving and there’s no drive-thru pickup option. The store itself is usually clean and well organized. There’s a UPS access point here, which is convenient. Front end cashiers are always friendly. Can’t say the same about the pharmacy staff.

This CVS pharmacy should not get one star!

January 3, my doctor had to contact CVS pharmacy three times, and I had to visit the pharmacy location three times. My doctor tried to phone-in a prescription. When it was not successful, he inquired about a fax number. As a result, I walked to the CVS location, and I requested the fax number. He was unable to fax the location.

On January 4, I returned to the CVS prior to 1:00 pm to confirm they received the prescription, but they hadn’t. I called my doctor, and I gave him the initial phone number again. In the middle of the phone call, a pharmacist reported they were closing for lunch. The pharmacy didn’t provide the phone number. Instead, I had to look it up and share it with my doctor. Finally, he was able to leave a voicemail message.

At 5:00 pm, I returned to CVS. I waited in line for 15 minutes. I asked the “pick-up” attendant to confirm a prescription. She confirmed submission. She said it wasn’t ready, and it would take 1 hr to process. Upon returning to my apartment, I had a 5:26 pm text message that reported “the prescription was ready for pickup” within five-minutes of leaving.

Prior to 9:00 pm, I returned. The pharmacy had not closed, but the same “pick-up” attendant declined taking another customer.
26 hours later and following three trips to CVS, I am still without the prescribed medication.

The pharmacy support at the location offers bad service.

I just had a very unpleasant encounter with a pharmacist at this location. I was written 3 prescriptions by my doctor recently and attempted to pick them up on the Saturday after we had met. It is important to note that I did pick up a 90 day supply of one of the medications last month. I explained this to my doctor and had made it very clear I tried to find this supply but I must have misplaced it. Still, he said the medication should still be ready for pickup because he had written a new prescription for it. I arrived to them having 2 of the prescriptions ready, and the other (which I had run out of/misplaced) not ready. I thought they maybe hadn’t refilled it yet. Frustrating because I need the medication daily, but I still understood nonetheless. I try checking the status online and it says it’s too early to refill, so now I know it’s something to do my missing supply. I give them a call and ALL I asked the pharmacist to do was to check if I had any prescription ready and BRIEFLY explained the situation. No loud voice, no attitude, etc. She gave me the same answer (again, not shocked or mad at this moment because she didn’t cause the issue, just asking a simple question). I then tell her that that I appreciated her checking and that I will call my doctor to explain the situation and get it worked out. Before I could even utter another word, this pharmacist started speaking over me, questioning why I was calling my doctor, speaking over me with an attitude and kept reiterating she could not help me. I did not ask for any further help. I simply asked you to check if there was a prescription ready, not sure why I was talked to in the way that I was. Honestly if she had just checked for me and left it at that, I would’ve been fine bc I know sometimes these things are out of their control. But since the pharmacist had such a horrible attitude, slim patience and was actively trying to talk over me and not listen to what I had to say about my own prescription and situations regarding my prescription, I went ahead and told my doctor to move my prescriptions to another store where I’m not verbally harassed over my own medication. This is not the first issue I’ve had with my prescriptions with them either. Please go to another pharmacy in the area, the customer service here is abysmal and I honestly felt degraded after speaking to her. One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had.

I have been waiting for 2 weeks for my medication. I have called multiple times and attempted to have my prescription filled at other CVS locations in the area however, all of them, including this location, are “out of stock and need to order more” or “have reached the quota for the month and will not have more until the beginning of the next month”. I have never had this problem in other states. I still do not have the medication that I need.

The pharmacy is a constant mess. They have “lost” prescriptions and made me wait over an hour to refill it. When I had my Covid booster appointment they told me to come back the next day but not first thing because they are always “running around” in the mornings. Line is usually very long because the people cannot find prescriptions. They’ve run out of generics and swapped out with name brand and charged us more without letting us know. Most recently (today) right at 8 when they open the pharmacist himself tells me they lost power and don’t have a cash drawer and their systems are all down. Told me and three others we all had to leave. Kept pointing to the fact that their tollgate didn’t work as some evidence of a major shutdown. Miraculously 60 seconds later another person walks up with a cash drawer for them and they say they can help me. Pharmacist is just a liar.

Update 8/12/22. I called in the morning to see when my prescription would be ready and was told 9am. I go in at 9:20 and some guy who looks like he hasn’t showered in a week tells me the prescription is on hold and I need to move to the next window. Two idiots make me walk between the drop off and consultation windows literally four times each one saying go to the other window over and over. Finally I am told prescription was not filled and I will have to wait 30 minutes. The incompetence is unreal. Really need to find another pharmacy.

I have used this CVS for many years, but it has become unbearable to use it. The drive-through has been closed for over a month, they are poorly staffed, multiple times out of the medicine prescribed for me and the weight has become hours To even get a new prescription filled there. I’m not blaming the staff they are doing the best they can it’s the operations and the lack of enough staff to handle it. My interaction with the staff has been pleasant. Most people when they’re sick don’t want to have to go into a CVS and stand in line for 45 minutes to an hour to get there prescription only to find they don’t have it. They need the drive-through back open.

Something must have happened to this place, they used to be extremely fast, it was in and out. Now it doesn’t matter when you come there’s always a ridiculously long line, they closed the drive thru permanently it seems..it’s never open when I come. They mixed up my $50,000 specialty medicine (insurance paid for) with some other patients chemo medication. That was the first time, the second refill they misplaced it and eventually found it up at the front of the store by the registers with the UPS packages. The only reason I chose this pharmacy was because it’s open 24hrs, it might be time for a change.

Don’t trust this location with any of your medication. Phones are never answered unless you persist and stay on the line 90 minutes or more. If you do manage to get a hold of someone, they will try their hardest to be as rude and unprofessional as humanly possible. And you will need to call frequently, because your prescriptions will ALWAYS be late or incorrect.

No other CVS has this problem. Walgreens doesn’t have this problem. Walmart, Kroger, CostCo, or any pharmacy nearby does not have the issues and rude employees that this location does. CVS Corporate should be ashamed of this location.

Had the worst experience yesterday at the pharmacy. Husband waited over 45 mins for a prescription for my daughter . Then was told they are about to go to lunch soon. Not on my watch. The guy that works there just kept laughing like it was funny. Pharmacist was dumbfounded just like everyone else. Kept giving me the run around. Not to mention waited so long my daughter started to run a fever. Something needs to be done ASAP!! WHERES CORPORATE!!

WORST CVS I have ever seen. Pharmacy Drive Thru has been closed with makeshift sign for weeks now, while marquee says they’re doing covid testing! So potential COVID patients are IN the store for testing??? The parking lot is always busy, and I’m not going to stand for a long time in a crowded store. I’m moving my prescription somewhere else!
