  1. Rude pharmacy staff. I’ve actually never had an issue with the retail staff. The pharmacy staff tried to argue with me that my prescription was NOT covered – when in fact, they didn’t even try to run it with my insurance. I had dropped off the prescription here only because my usual place – where it ALWAYS cost me NOTHING – was closed.
Why? Because it was a diet supplement and I had a coupon attached to it, because that is what the doctor stuck on the page and I didn’t want to rip it. So they ASSUMED it would not be covered under my insurance. It is.
After I was told by the tech at the window (after waiting in line for an hour) that it would cost X amount of dollars, I asked why? My deductible has been met and all previous times I had gotten it filled, it had cost me $0. I do understand that some pharmacies have different contracts with different insurances, but the price was too high to account for just that – it was the price I’d pay OOP. The tech rolled her eyes and walked off without a word and got the pharmacist, who promptly told me that no, insurance wouldn’t cover it and they “never cover it”. I work in health insurance, much less that I’ve gotten this same Rx fully covered.
I asked for my prescription back (which – they had ripped the coupon off at this point) so I could bring it to another pharmacy on another day which I’ve had it filled at before. They gave me back my prescription through the window without another word, not even returning a “thank you have a good day”. I can understand having a bad day, yet I was polite but I guess all they can do is not return ‘thank you’s or anything, just slam the windows and roll their eyes and give you the silent treatment.

I brought it to Walgreens on Kaliste Saloom and guess what? $0, as it always had been before. The tech at Walgreens said that it was very likely they did not even check with my insurance on file because of the nature of the prescription (diet pill) and because they assumed that the coupon was for that. I checked with my insurance the next day to see if a claim was initiated by them – it was not.
So basically – they don’t check with your insurance if they think they might be right. And they were wrong. Going to avoid this place at all if I can – because who knows if they’ll decide to check to see if my insurance even covers a medicaiton just because they think it won’t? I have a common and major carrier of health insurance, too, which DOES cover diet pills (and similar) by the way – whom I also work for. So the pharmacist so matter-of-factly saying that no, NO insurances cover it EVER, is quite a leap.

  2. CVS may never answer the phone win trying to call in a prescription. Walking into the store or driving to the window will take at least 30 minutes. Once a customer does actually speak to or see a pharmacist tech, they may tell you they are out of that prescription and they have no idea when you will get it back. This particular CVS pharmacy system in inoperable. What a nightmare. Avoid if a customer wants to actually get their prescription filled.

  3. All pharmacies are bonkers right now. I tried a different one from our CVS , they had a sign posted in window saying no pharmacist avaliable. Ended up at cvs in RR, where they are completely overloaded with people, the actual job, and multitasking. So yes, they are probably edgy, as are the demanding crying customers. There was drama and they were handling the most professional way possible.Stephanie Hamilton filled my complicated order. Yes she was rushy at first, but also found a solution to what I needed in a timely fashion. She went the extra mile to make sure I had a powder needed. She was still juggling other things and the crazy of someone crying over Medicaid not
Paying for Nicotine meds and yelling, demanding. These pharmacist have very difficult jobs right now. Try treating them with a bit of respect & understanding and you may be pleasantly surprised. Thank you Stephanie

  4. I have been using this CVS regularly (at least once a week) since moving to Lafayette in 2016. Never an instance of being ignored or treated poorly as many other reviews claim. However, keep in mind that this is a 24 hour location in a busy section of town so it receives quite a steady, heavy flow of people! The pharmacy is typically understaffed, but being understanding of this issue and doing your part in checking the progress of prescriptions online/through text makes all the difference. If you distrust that recommendation but ‘have no other choice’, checkout with Stephanie. Genuine and a no-nonsense type person, but always checks insurance/GOODRX and even goes as far as letting me know if prescriptions contradict with others (she’s caught this mistake a few times for me and others I’ve picked up for).

  5. The worst pharmacy ever. Avoid this place. You’d be better filling your prescription at Walmart. The workers are lazy and rude and if you do go here plan on waiting about an hour in line just to pick up your prescription.

There is always a wait to just pick up prescriptions. Went yesterday mid afternoon to pick up prescription that was sent in at 9 am. Was 3rd in line and after waiting, was told the same thing the 2 people in front of me were told and that was my prescription was not ready, but was on the expedited list and would be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. Knowing that was not going to happen, I told them I would just come back the next day. Today once again I am 3rd in line. After waiting, I asked for my prescription. She had to go use the computer in the back then came back and told me they did not have my medication in stock and would have to come back tomorrow. I asked how could it go from being ready in 15 to 20 minutes yesterday to now the don’t have it in stock? I said what if I had a bad infection that needed the medication now. Her response was to look past me and say “NEXT”. Reported this to a manager and her response was “sorry”. Changing pharmacies ASAP.

had my prescription sent in around 9:30. I get there around 1:50, and was told the pharmacists were on break. No big deal. THEY TOOK 10 DAMN MINUTES. Was 2nd in line, and was told that my prescription wasn’t ready. When i came back, there were 2 lines so i just went into the first one i saw. The pharmacist girl (black girl with short hair and blonde highlights) snapped at us to get into one line. how about she pays attention to the lines in the first place? thought coming here was going to be convenient since i am near here most of the time, but it was nothing but an absolute pain in the behind.

quick update. the lady’s name was Danasha. ALSO i caught them all stickin their nose in my cough syrup and trying to figure out which ones for me. this is absolutely DISGUSTING

This is the worst pharmacy I have been to. They never answer their phone. They constantly have lines of 5+ with very slow employees. They shut down before the online store hours say. The drive through line is rarely open. If you have any choice do not use this pharmacy.

ATM is always out of order. Leave someone in your car so not to get tagged to be towed, if there is an event at Cajun Field. Parking lot towing scam going on here, too.

The pharmacy is the worst! They don’t answer the phone and this past week they have been completely closed. How are we to get our medications that our lives depend on. You get a text demanding you pick up your meds then when you get to the store the pharmacy is closed.

I called to transfer prescriptions several days ago and when I still hadn’t heard from them, I called 5 different times this morning and no answer so I drove up there. I went back to pharmacy and went up to counter at which point I hear “3 pharmacy calls” not one person even attempted to answer the phone and not one person even acknowledged that I was standing at the counter. After several minutes one girl walked in slow mo to counter and I told her the reason for my visit. They said they would get them filled. Fast forward to this afternoon when I again go inside the store and back to pharmacy and stand at counter at which point one of the 3 employees in the pharmacy wandered up to where I was and literally looked at me and said nothing and walked off. After about 8 minutes of being completely ignored by 3 pharmacy employees I said something to a lady waiting for her meds about I couldn’t believe these employees were so rude and the pharmacist. came up and rudely said can I help you and after telling her my
name i finally got my med. But she wasn’t happy about it. I really don’t get how every single employee from pharmacy to tech and everyone in between could just be so ugly to people that are simply trying to get medication filled!

    Close or restaff the pharmacy.
I used this pharmacy because it’s the closest one to me open after five. Needed some anti-nausea meds to eat or drink for the first time in days. Got the scrip at 6, went at 7 and was told “I just put it in the computer. You’ll get a texth” yes she said texth. How are you so condescending but so ignorant at the same time?
So I waited in the parking lot for an hour because I just wanted to eat for the fist time in days. Never got a text. Saw maybe three people go in the drive through, even fewer entered the store. Went to the drive through again and she gets exasperated with me and says “I haven’t left the register.” I said “but you close in five minutes” and she just shrugged and was like “you can go to River Ranch then”
WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I got my script in 30 minutes at the CVS in river ranch and they were very busy. So the johnston st pharmacist was just rude and unnecessary.
Don’t even get me started on the cashier up front at the Johnston St location that assumes a self checkout means she can ditch the front and then get short with people when they ask for help. I was litterally helping people in self checkout and I’ve never worked at a CVS before.
All around aweful place. I will avoid it like the plague in the future. It’s only a minute or two down the road to get to the 24hr Walgreens.

Initially I was fairly happy with this location. I work in retail and try to be very understanding and forgiving. Accidents happen. But, over the last 6 months, the staff here has “Lost” my medication more than once. Each time I came to check for it I got blown off. Now, I am here trying to get a prescription filled that was marked wrong. They only gave me a portion of what I should have gotten, and now I can’t get my meds because of someone’s lack of organization. Having this happen repeatedly now leaves me looking for another pharmacy that will be willing to fill all My scripts. This is something that you would expect to have avid attention to detail.
