As someone responsible for a customer service team, I feel qualified in recommending y’all have got to get better at this drive thru stuff. The wait is beyond ridiculous. You have at least 6 people working in the pharmacy and it took an hour for us to get to the window. Did I mention there were only 2 cars in front of us? Pharmacy manager needs to address this. Holy cow.By Joel Hill (3 months ago)Due to the Superior Medicaid coverage for my foster children, I am forced to use CVS as their pharmacy. Never have I received such terrible service at a pharmacy in my more than 40 years of living than I have in the past 4 years using this CVS location for my foster children. I am thankful our fostering journey will be over soon and I am giving my adopted child **my** health insurance that will allow me to switch to Walgreens.
In the last four years I must wait several hours for a prescription to be filled. Upon leaving the doctor office or urgent care, I must call CVS every hour to ask if the Rx is ready. When it finally is, 3 or 5 or 8 hours later, I wait NO LESS THAN 30 minutes in the pharmacy drive thru line. A couple of times I have been told to park and come inside because the wait will be longer since the medication won’t be ready yet.
Yesterday 10/15/22, at 5:30 p.m. (after waiting since 10:30 a.m. for the prescription to be ready) I was told that Superior Medicaid requires a prior auth and since they did not have enough time to get the prior auth, I need to pay. I can afford an $8 Rx, but what about those who can’t?
Forget about getting ADHD medication refilled every month. I have to call the pharmacy, call the doctor, call the pharmacy, call the doctor, call the pharmacy, drive thru, park, walk inside, wait, go back home, call the pharmacy, call the doctor, call the pharmacy, drive thru, park and go inside, to FINALLY get the ADHD medicine!
This is absolutely ridiculous. The pharmacy employees at the CVS on 34th & Western need to get off their butts and learn how to do their jobs in a timely and productive manner.
By Jennifer Wagner (4 months ago)CVS is the absolute worst, and this location in particular is just horrible. I HATE that my insurance forces us here for maintenance prescriptions. They’ll make you wait forever with no notice that their drive through is closed. Calling does no good because they never answer the phone, either. They also ROUTINELY misfill and overcharge. Again, the absolute worst.By Hugh Fristoe (5 months ago)I waited at the front for about 5 minutes before I had to walk around to find someone to help me. I would be surprised if they didn’t have frequent problems during their audit. When the lady came to cash me out she was not happy about leaving what she was doing in order to help me. However I was surprised at how much stuff they have and how clean the store was. That was my first time in a CVS.By keya johnson (11 months ago)On June 3,2021 @ around 1. I went into CVS. The cashier seemed friendly and greeted me. I came in to purchase some vitamins. The lady putting the vitamins on the shelf. Was extremely rude. I asked her a question about a specific vitamin. More specific the price. She gave me a dirty glare. Tried ignoring my question. I had to ask it 3 times! Asked if she could please hand me some of the ones she was putting up. Was very cold and rude about it. Told her thank you anyway. Got another dirty glare! I had enough. Told her wow! How rude! No apology from her. She didn’t seemed phased or concerned about her attitude. I waited tables over 20+ yrs. If I would’ve ever treated a customer like this. I would’ve been fired! Customer service is everything. And the reason stores stay open. And we’re the paycheck to the ones working there! Told the young cashier at the front about it. She didn’t have much to say. I guess this store doesn’t care about it’s customers. I will never go to thus store again! Guess it doesn’t matter. Because their customers are not top priority! One star on the rating isn’t even deserved.By Betty Bradley (a year ago)

Worst pharmacy I’ve ever been to. You can call and wait on hold 30 minutes to finally speak with someone, they’ll tell you your prescriptions are ready then go and stand in line half an hour to get up to the counter and they’ll tell you they’re not ready yet. This is not a one time occurrence either this has happened repeatedly to me and my family that has to use this pharmacy bc of our insurance. Pitiful excuse for a pharmacy and management. Go somewhere else if at all possible is my recommendationBy Blake Adams (3 months ago)It usually takes 45 minutes if a script is called in ahead of time but for the most part they’re great. There were a couple of times that they were drive through only and the line was a mile long or they didn’t have the meds I needed in house and I had to come back another day but I’ve learned to stay on top of stuff ahead of time and I don’t have nearly as many issues.By Lora Alexander (a month ago)Why does it take so long to talk to someone in pharmacy. Have called in the past 3 days. And been on hold an hour and a half within those 3 days.By Rita Perez (3 months ago)Do Not fill your prescriptions here. Unless you want to wait on hold for hours on end or spend those hours waiting in a drive through line with the pharmacy inside closed. I waited in line for an hour and asked them to transfer my meds. They never did and the new pharmacy can not fill it because this location will not pick up their phone.By paco hunter (3 months ago)I got my Moderna booster shot at the CVS in Amarillo off of Washington. The store was clean and the staff were kind. Setting up an appointment online was quick and easy, as was receiving the vaccine itself in one of the private vaccination rooms (pictured). It was the quickest and least painful vaccination experience I have ever had. Additionally the technician was aware of my appointment and my allergies. I would highly reccomend this location and this team!By Makinzie Gentry (a year ago)

That’s it for our list of the best CVS in Amarillo TX! If you have any arguments or additional information, please leave a comment. We love to hear from our readers too!
This store is hit and miss. Understaffed and the pharm techs are sometimes super nice and others super rude. Between CVS and my doctor a prescription got lost. I had a electronic copy and the person was like what do you want me to do? You are a pharmacy, if you lost a prescription, call the dr and don’t make me do all the work.
This use to be a great pharmacy, but the customer service is terrible now. I dread having to call if I have a question because 9/10 times, they are rude and very rushed to get off the phone. I get that they are busy, but if the prescription wouldn’t have been messed up, I wouldn’t need to call. We are in the process of changing pharmacies because of this. Very frustrating.
Never go here if you need time sensitive medications. Prescriptions are not ready at the agreed upon time and they don’t contact you about issues even if you opt in to receive text messages for this very reason. It is after 4 pm and this location has had my prescriptions since before noon and they still aren’t ready. My insurance forces me to use CVS because of Caremark but this is why I chose to just pay the extra on former policies. CVS employees obviously cannot handle the volume!!!
I waited 4 days for my rescue inhaler to be filled and still had to walk in and get it expedited. To me, this is unacceptable. I have emailed corporate and filed a formal complaint. No one should have to wait that long for life saving medication, or at least update the customers that there will be a delay. Or forward the prescription to another location. Absolutely ridiculous. I have switched to another non-CVS pharmacy.
Waited 4 days to get my prescription filled. When I called, the lady was extremely rude and said they were behind due to the holidays but then said it would be ready in 30 minutes…… If you need a prescription filled I guess you have to call them or they will just ignore your request. I hate that my insurance forces me to use the worst pharmacy. (AKA – CVS)
