So thankful for this Urgent Care. Easy to schedule our appointment online and complete the forms. Hardly had any wait when we got there before getting into and room and seen. They were so good with my 3-year-old and even though they needed to do lots of tests, they made it fun for him. They listened to all our concerns and I will definitely come back!By Bonnie Reedy (4 months ago)I cannot say enough kind things about the staff at Express Family Care. I was seen within 30 minutes of arriving. I didn’t have to call or sit in my car and wait to be tested for COVID. They were cheerful and extremely helpful. I had a problem with the pharmacy that my RX was sent to that involved 3 different phone calls. They were kind and helpful each time I called and never made me feel like I was bothering them. Thank you for your care!By Amber Naff (2 months ago)The front desk staff is nice and the providers are nice as well the nurses who call you back seem like they couldn’t care less about you. Also y’all need to do away with appointments I sat for 35 minutes past my appointment time just to be put in another room to wait longer.By carlee ward (2 months ago)Everyone was nice but had the feeling of just being another person to get in and get out. Went in for injured shoulder/clavical and treatment plan was very minimal and not effective. X-ray was good for piece of mind assuming they read it right. The treatment plan wasn’t helpful at all.By Justin Havens (2 weeks ago)Emily at the front desk went above and beyond to help me out when I was out of town and needed a sick teenager to be seen. Then I had to call back when pharmacy had some issues and again, she went the extra mile again to help this mom out. The PA was terrific with my son as well, and less of a wait than a weekend visit to our PCP.By Tracey Patterson (4 months ago)

I came here after getting stung by a bee on a hike. It was bleeding and swelling and the pain was relentless. I have quite a high pain tolerance but was crying when I arrived. The front desk seemed to not believe me, asking if I got bit by a mosquito. They asked me to take off my jacket in the lobby so they could see the site and I explained I was only wearing a bra underneath. They implied that they had to see it if they were going to let me be seen then said “do you really want to see someone, we’re not going to be able to figure out what stung you”. Meanwhile, the doctor came over (I’m still standing in my bra, crying, in the lobby in front of other patients) and noted that I would need steroids.
The doctor was okay. He wrote a prescription for steroids but said I “probably wouldn’t need them”.
My pain stayed at a 9 for six hours and the swelling continued to increaae over the next 3 days until my arm was twice its normal size. After meeting with my primary care provider the next day, she informed me that I 1) did need to be on steroids 2) was having a severe allergic reaction and 3) needed to start carrying epi pens.
It was incredible to me that I was essentially told to undress in the lobby if I wanted to be seen and not taken seriously when something was actually very wrong.
I’d recommend driving the extra few minutes to find another office or seeking medical advice from your primary care provider.
By Madelyn Vidmar (5 months ago)My mom was feeling dizzy and nauseous-we went to an afc urgent and the wait was 2+ hours. Desperate I googled urgent care-thankfully this place popped up! I called and she was SO friendly, told me to bring her and they would get her in immediately! The staff was friendly & comforting! My mom said she was treated so well and quickly! Within an hour she was able to go home & lay down and the prescription was sent! She ended up having the flu-if you’ve ever had you know that these things mean so much!! I can’t thank everyone there enough! Our experience was outstanding! Would highly recommend!By Kori Boudreaux (2 months ago)Yesterday was my first time at this MedExpress, and might be the best “drop-in” clinic experience l’ve ever had. Everyone l dealt with, from check-in, intake, medical procedure, Dr. diagnosis and recommendation–was knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and professional. I would recommend, and will use this clinic again. They are quite busy, so get there before they open at 8:00 if you can, to be one of the first in line.By RES B (a month ago)Every time I’ve been, everyone has been very helpful and polite. I was able to see the same doctor last two times I went on the weekend. Had to wait last time I went but I was told that when I called, front desk lady came outside and got me, didn’t have to wait nearly as long as guesstimated. I’m glad they are open the hours they are, cuz none of us can see our regular docs when we really need to. Everywhere is short staffed right now, so maybe give these people a little consideration.By Vicki Taylor (3 months ago)Marishka just called to turn me away without being seen cause they didn’t know what was wrong based on a description. Didn’t even ask what where why anything. Didn’t feel welcome or like they cared about my health at all. Appalled. 10 of 10 don’t recommend. And I used to recommend med express to everyone prior to this encounter. Clearly need more knowledgeable courteous staff. (I was even sending my own injured employees to this location. We will choose a better managed facility)By Stacy Keith (4 months ago)

That’s it for our list of the best urgent care clinics in Roanoke VA! If you have any arguments or additional information, please leave a comment. We love to hear from our readers too!
All of the staff were absolutely amazing and friendly. The service was quick and everyone there was very knowledgeable. Andy, the X-ray tech was especially friendly and a joy to meet! I’d like to send out a big thank you to all of the wonderful staff, clinical and front desk included, and appreciate all of your hard work and compassion!
Got in and was seen quickly. Staff is always friendly. Ended up having strep throat and the meds were sent to my pharmacy no prob.
EDIT: There was a second part of this review concerning a mishap with COVID reporting to the health dept. The manager called me immediately upon seeing the review and with in 24 hours she had worked out what happened with the health department and had discussed it with her staff. I really appreciate how seriously she took my concerns and how quickly she addressed them.
Staff is very professional, knowledgeable, also friendly and courteous to all in processing patients through their Brandon Rd location. They were understaffed that day, but no signs of wear or anxiety came through to me. I was taken back almost immediately, I think because I am insured. It must be an uphill battle for these urgent care clinics in many ways such as: time ,staffing , collections. They are always busy. It makes me wonder how many people get “urgent ” because they have no insurance and end up neglecting their illness because they have no place readily to go for care?
If you go to AFC on Brandon don’t expect a return call or any kind of customer service. I’ve been trying to get a prescription refilled for over a month (simple celestial med) now after over a dozen calls from the pharmacy and myself with no results (seems the doctor is always off) I have to go to another facility and start the process all over again. If you like a place with zero customer service by all means, go here. If you prefer to get the help you’re looking for, go somewhere other than this place.
An excellent urgent care experience.
While the facility is not the newest, the staff were incredibly friendly. I was even seen sooner than anticipated, and was able to pick up my prescription at the CVS right next-door. The provider was very knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions.
