  1. Went to the Eye Clinic. This was the first time I have ever been to the VA Clinic. It was very easy to find. I got a meal voucher so it took care of my lunch. I found a place to stay 5 minutes down the road in a B&B. You can get rooms, you just need to check into that. All the doctors and assistants were absolutely amazing. Very friendly. The ones as we came into the hospital are very good and super helpful. Quincy Medical VA is wonderful!

  2. This Hospital has saved my life more than once. I prefer it over the UofI. Drs, nurses, and staff have always been respectful and professional. Rooms are modern and private. Its also a teaching hospital, but your always reviewed by the Head Dr of the clinic your seeing, assessing the interns workup of your condition. I would recommend it to any veteran. If you have a 30% or more service connected injury, care is free. Dentures free if higher rated, Eyeglasses yearly. And you can always talk with other vets. I have a rare auto immune disease and recieve meds that would cost me $1000’s if I had to pay co pays. I’d like to thank them for their service!

  3. I went to Audiology at the VA in Iowa City the other day. I seen Aaron and got my new hearing aids. I have seen Aaron before and he really helps me out with hearing aids. He is a great guy and always takes care of me. He is always professional and gets stuff done. I have to drive an hour and half to get there, but it is well worth my time. I never have to wait very long in the waiting room, always called in on time.

  4. Very poor service at the Davenport,Ia clinic. Tried to charge for prescriptions that were never received, would not provide transportation to Iowa City. Elected to to use state Medicare. So much for caring for our veterans

My mother recently had a stay at Mercy and received the most deplorable care. The first night she waited for 30 minutes before blankets were brought to her, and she was left there shivering for that time (there were none in the room). During her 5-day stay, she was very weak and needed assistance with using the bathroom. She sometimes had to wait for an hour after pressing the call button for a nurse, and by then, of course, it was too late. Then she had to sit in wet gown and bedding until a nurse arrived. No one took notice of her special diet, which is gluten and lactose-free, even though she relayed this information several times. No one wrote it down, or added it to her chart. The hospital seemed short-staffed. My mom even used to work at Mercy Hospital, and commented that this was NOT the hospital she used to work for. Since my mom was reasonably alert during her stay, I feel very sorry for the patients who are in worse shape than she, as they can’t ask for help.
It seems that if you are going to run a hospital, you should take care of your patients. I can’t begin to express my rage that Mercy’s patients are treated in such a way. I would never want anyone I know to ever stay there again.

The ER department was fantastic. I went to the ER the morning of 11/23 and was immediately taken to a room and seen by a terrific nurse and then a fantastic physician, I was treated with respect and compassion and everything was clearly explained to me. Dr. Field was outstanding. I highly recommend Mercy’s ER.

The ER got me in less than 10 minutes. Quickly saw doctor and test were ordered and completed . Ended up in the ICU, where the nursing was extremely organized in a team effort. From the IV people to the unit clerks all levels of nursing staff, to the hospitalist, Infection, ENT specialists and surgeon all were excellent. Unfortunately the only thing holding them back is the older equipment and truly outdated electronic patient record system. Mercy may finally be in a come back mode.

TERRIBLE CARE AT NIGHT Last night was very bad with vomiting and bad blood pressure. I had been like this since 4 in the afternoon. The night started off well until the nurse took the IV and never in my life did I An injection had hurt so much, the pain was so much that I ended up crying, my husband was very worried because he knows that injections don’t hurt me, after that they do a series of medical tests and I never got to see them, the doctor came to the room saying that everything was perfect and that I could leave, something that seemed very strange to me and I let him know, and his concern was so much that he sent me home. When I arrived at the hospital my blood pressure was at 119 and just as I was leaving it was at 125, which seemed strange to me, I felt bad and even vomited and even so, she sent me home. and that she couldn’t give me a diagnosis because there are patients she didn’t know they had because all the exams went well at FINNN the pathetic care of both the doctor and the nurse

Wildly unhelpful physicians and front desk workers took 20 minutes to get me checked in. One of two doctors randomly left to “get things from her car” and did not show up for another 15 minutes or longer. Absolutely ridiculous that this is the only accessible facility on weekends on east side and that it is this poorly ran.

Had a great experience at UI QuickCare. Was seen relatively quickly and got out with the help I needed. Would recommend for quick attention needs.

I don’t know what kind of privileged children have been leaving 1-star reviews, but this is probably the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had as a patient. Nurses were social, empathetic, and the service was reasonably quick. Compared to some full fledged hospitals I’ve been to like desmoines and fort dodge, this was a vacation! Dont hesitate.

Spent an hour minimum in the waiting room. Got in to see the doctor and she said there was nothing she could do to help me. Lost over two hours of my time and a ridiculous fee just to hear a doctor say “go to student health”. Completely ridiculous

I have an amazing experience! Dr. Johanna and staff were wonderful! I highly recommend them. I see some bad reviews about time but you have to understand you are not going to McDonald’s and order some fires. I have a really great experience from the beginning to the end.
