An updated: the PA/NP called me herself to address my concerns. She would allow me to come back to the clinic for the add on lab test. Education was provided, and together a choice was made, where I as the patient feel comfortable.
The nurse practitioner/pa was great however I’m left feeling very upset and discouraged by the care I received today. I have strep throat, received the diagnosis and treatment for that cool. All went well there.
Mono was also mentioned at that time as a possibility. Due to being sick I failed to communicate that I was having abdomen pain on the left side(liver are). It also wasn’t asked if I had any other symptoms. I left the office. Called back, spoke with a nurse who said yes that could change plan of care, but I would need to be seen again (185) dollars, it couldn’t be an add on lab, he couldn’t ask for medical advice separate, and basically my only option would be to come in and pay again for advice.
As someone with a some lapse in insurance, I’m absolutely floored in the lack of communication he would even attempt. I’ve been working in the medical field for 6+ years as a medical assistant, and can assure you an add on lab is not 185 worthy. The communication needs improvement. I’ve always had less than 10-minute wait times. Most recently, my ear swelled up and my piercing was embedded in my ear. Don’t come here for chest pains. Considering all the available information I possibly gave them on me at the time. It felt like I wasn’t getting the quality care everyone deserves, just rushed me in out of their doors. Felt like a cash grab. With a family doctor I have this same rush care problem too. I went to Urgent Care because it was cheaper than paying a little more than double what I payed at the family doctor without insurance. With this type of rush care, I don’t think they should be charging these kinds of prices especially knowing your patient doesn’t have insurance. Pricing for this kind of care should be lower than, or $50 max, especially for those seeking help without insurance. I believe you should give the same amount of caring about people where ever you work as a doctor. Urgent Care should be, get you in without appointment, then be given the time to figure out what’s really is the root problem with quality care as with any good doctor anywhere else. Not get you in quick for a guess at what you may have, to then just leave it up to you to figure it out on your own. I came here for chest pain twice. First time I was told by the doctor that he’s seen this type of thing before, prescribed me prednisone, tells me to keep doing the exercises I’ve been doing, but then later found out from a physical therapist on YouTube that I shouldn’t be taking anti-inflammatory/pain medications, because I need those inflammatory/pain response to know what exercises to do, and to avoid for a time. Second time I came to check if it was my shoulder that could possibly be causing these pain when I notice my left shoulder was higher than my right. I mentioned depression, she said it could be that. If that was the case, then why don’t I get sharpness in the chest on some days I feel depress. Even on that one day at the mall when I had a slight anxiety attack, nothing. Sharp pain comes sometimes when I do certain exercises, or stretches. So far the only one I felt really cares about my health was when I went to the ER. When I had an attack while laying down one night and had to go to the ER, they did the blood test, X-Rayed my chest, said the blood test came up as inflammation, but they didn’t know from what because the X-Ray showed that there was nothing wrong with my chest, they even took a lot of time with me asking tons of question about me. The best thing is they didn’t bill me knowing I didn’t have insurance. Even though I had a few thousand saved up and was ready for the ridiculous bill that was about to be put on me. The ER is expensive from what I hear, yet I didn’t get billed, and got better care than I would of got here, or at a family doctor. I can’t thank the people from the ER that night at St. Elizabeth Hospital enough. Going forward, I only have a few options left that I haven’t done yet, which is MRI, getting a general overall health test, see an actual physical therapist, and I learned that dental health can also play a role of your overall health too. They should give refunds, or a reduced refund for the poorly rushed care recieved. I really need that money considering my mental health preventing me from keeping a job at the moment and it would help me in hopefully finding the anwsers I need somewhere else.By Kong Meng Xiong (5 months ago)Urgent care has been an absolute life saver for our family. Dr. Miller is fantastic, extremely intelligent, has a history working with athletes, and a great listener. Highly recommend him for primary physician.. All of the nurses and staff up front have been friendly in my encounters.. Reason I’m not putting 5 stars is due to the ascension company policies for when you ask a question outside of the exact appointment scope, then you will get billed more money than your original appointment. I’ve had a few discussions with staff members trying to understand why billing was higher for some appointments which seemed identical to previous appointments. I showed up 15 minutes early. They told me they could see my appointment, but they double-booked the time with someone else. They then told me the only option was to reschedule for a new appointment.
It wasn’t the girl’s fault who was helping me, but it was incredibly frustrating. Totally incompetent management. I decided I could not trust them with my health. I’ll be finding a new doctor.

The call on provider would ( and eventually did) refuse COVID prescription for a traveling patient. For a simple meet-the-doctor visit, we were charged $500 and part of it was not covered by insurance. We tried calling and were never able to get anyone to talk to us, they forwarded us to their « billing » department which could not answer why we were charged that way. Entered emergency care in a lot of pain. Took over a half an hour after registration to be admitted. And we were the only ones in the emergency room at the time. Every excruciating minute seemed like an eternity. There was COMPLETE lack of empathy and care from the three people at the reception desk. If we have any other choice, we would go elsewhere next time. Once we finally got into a room, doctor and nurse were fine.
Starting with the walk-in, the receptionist was most kind and helpful. Treated with respect and exceptional healthcare! My grandson had to get an I.V., his very first one. Harley was very nervous and anxious about this procedure. The lady that started the I.V., was kind, patient and walked Harley through the whole thing!! Not going to lie, it did hurt and Harley did scream some, but she was able to get this done with expertise! All of the nurses and the Dr. On staff were all very attentive to making Harley comfortable.

The doctors and nurses were so amazingly helpful. Chris was my RN and he frequently checked on me to make sure I didn’t need anything and that my pain level was okay. I felt heard and like what I was experiencing mattered which has not been the case at other hospitals.
I understand difficulties with setting up a new system whatever they told me ok I get it. However when I go in because I’m having chest pain and breathing problems and I sit there for 5 hours without so much as an update or “how you doing” it’s pretty upsetting. Many people sitting there waiting for hours a long side me. There were so many people in the waiting room that most were standing or sitting on the floor. A lot of people choose to leave after hours without getting help including a poor girl sitting next to me bleeding and not just a little from a cut for probably at least an hour to the point we’re she just left with her hand dripping in blood and the wrap she had around it soaked in blood from waiting. Please do better it was the worst ER experience I’ve ever had.
You handle emergencies plan to get patient in and out better and be more adaptable under system issues. The receptionist was very rude to me after waiting 5 hours and asking for an update. Keep in mind I patiently waiting 5 hours without a complaint and still nicely asked for an update and was met back with such rudeness I walked out speechless. It was so disheartening to see all those sick people waiting without help tonight. (10/23/22)
This one star rating is strictly based off of the extremely long hold times I experienced trying to reach the birthing center and postpartum departments. I am assisting a refugee lady who recently delivered a healthy baby at St. Elizabeth’s hospital. Upon discharge from the hospital, staff failed to set up the standard two day follow up appointment as well as the standard two week follow up appointment. No problem. People (everywhere) are overworked. Oversights happen. When the baby was 10 days old I asked the mother if she had seen a doctor since the birth. The answer was “no”. I knew this wasn’t normal so I immediately called St. E’s to inquire. Little did I know it would take me three tries to make an appointment. Collectively, between the three phone calls I was on hold 2 hours and 36 minutes. Today I tried calling St. E’s to inquire about the birth certificate. As I write this review I have been holding for 53 minutes….. and counting.
UPDATE: 16 hours later: I was on hold for 1 hour 14 minutes yesterday before giving up (it was 4:35 and I needed to return phone calls). This morning I called the switchboard at St. E’s to resume my task of getting an answer for a birth certificate. The main switchboard line was answered after a 2 minute hold. Switchboard transferred me to the birthing center. I have been on hold now for 34 minutes and counting………..
